GETTING TO PAXOS

TRANSFERS BY SKIPPERED YACHT AND DAY TRIPS

OFFERS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE on charters between 1 May and 14 June,
if you BOOK BY 11 JANUARY.

If you will be celebrating a special occasion while on holiday, or simply fancy something a bit different, then why not start or finish your holiday on Paxos with a 2-, 3- or 4-day mini-cruise aboard one of our Skippered Yachts instead of the usual journey by hydrofoil or ferry? Or perhaps a sailing day trip during your holiday?

For full details see the 'Skippered Yacht Charter' pages of our website.

Although most visitors to Paxos fly to Corfu and then travel on to Paxos by hydrofoil, there are many different ways of getting here.

By air It is possible either to fly direct to Corfu or via Athens or Thessaloniki, depending on the time of year and departure airport. There are regular direct charter flights to Corfu from the UK and most of Europe between May and October and, for Summer 2014, several companies, including easyJet, Ryanair and Jet2, will be operating scheduled services to Corfu.

Transfers from Corfu There are several different ways of reaching Paxos from Corfu.

Hydrofoil - The most popular way is by hydrofoil, which runs at least once a day in summer and only takes one hour. Tickets need to be booked well in advance through Corfu Tourist Enterprises (tel 0030 26610 49800/80444). Paxos Life Activities cannot book your tickets for you.

Passenger Ferry - There is now also a high speed passenger ferry, the Despina P, that runs at least once a day in summer and takes about 90 minutes. Tickets need to be booked in advance either through the operator, Kamelia Lines (tel 0030 26620 32131 or 0030 26610 40372), or one of their agents. For full details, including the timetable for Summer 2014, see www.kamelialines.gr . Paxos Life Activities cannot book your tickets for you.

Car Ferries - There are car ferries on most days but these take four to five hours as they go via Igoumenitsa on the mainland. Paxos Life Activities cannot book your tickets for you.

Sea Taxis - There are sea taxis which take between 30 minutes and one hour and leave either from Corfu Town (1 hour), Lefkimi (40 minutes) or from Kavos (30 minutes) at the southern end of Corfu.
Sea taxis can be very convenient if a group of people are travelling together but otherwise they can be a very expensive option. Sea taxis run at any time of the day but do need to be booked well in advance, particularly in high season. Paxos Life Activities cannot book the sea taxi for you.

Skippered Yacht - We now have four yachts with their own skipper available for charter, so why not start or finish your holiday on Paxos with a 2-, 3- or 4-day mini-cruise, instead of the usual transfer by hydrofoil, ferry or sea taxi.

By land and sea An increasing number of visitors to Paxos are now choosing to travel overland across Europe to one of the Italian ports on the Adriatic and then take a car ferry to Igoumenitsa on the coast of Epirus just opposite Paxos. Driving from the UK, the journey can be through France, Switzerland and Italy, through Belgium, Germany, Austria and Italy, or indeed by any other route and usually takes three or four days. Car ferries for Igoumenitsa leave from Venice, Trieste, Ancona, Bari and Brindisi, so it is also possible to have a short cruise at the end of the trip. From Igoumenitsa it is then necessary to take another much smaller car ferry to Paxos.  It is also possible to reach Paxos by travelling overland across Europe without a car, as there are coach and rail services from London to Venice, and from there one just travels as a foot passenger, in as much or as little comfort as one chooses, on one of the car ferries to Igoumenitsa.
