YOGA HOLIDAYS ON PAXOS
Barbara Lyndley’s involvement with yoga began many years
ago and evolved
from a feeling that she was not a human being, more of a
human ‘doing’. Life was hectic and she felt rushed,
pressured and tired of always having more to do. She
wanted time to ‘simply be’ herself, so she
up yoga as a hobby.
her to an amazing holiday experience
in Dahab, in the Sinai desert, where she
experienced one-to-one tuition in Kundalini yoga. She
felt so inspired that on her return
home she looked for a class to join so that she could
practise what she had learned. On finding there were no
classes in her area, she decided to embark upon teacher
training so that she could start them herself.
Barbara therefore enrolled with the International
of Kundalini Yoga in the UK
and is a qualified member of the Kundalini Yoga Teachers
Association in the UK and the International equivalent
organisation in the USA (IKYTA).
She set up SimplyB Yoga in 2006 and began to
teach classes and workshops in her native Staffordshire
and the neighbouring counties, with the aim of putting Kundalini Yoga firmly on the map
in the UK. She subsequently went on to develop
successful yoga holiday course on Paxos in association
with Paxos Life Activities.
A businesswoman as much as a yoga teacher, Barbara was
also a member of Women in Rural Enterprise
a national organisation offering support to rural
businesses, and was instrumental in setting up a local
Network Group within WiRE.
Having retired from her
former (stressful) career in the legal workplace several
years ago, Barbara recently took the final steps towards
realising her dream of living in Greece and left the UK to
live on Lesbos, in the north Aegean sea. There, the
island’s warmth and the courteous, simple dignity of its
people, make it a wonderful place in which to continue
to pursue her passion for yoga.
